Clay and Brenda Henry along with Becky Brendel brought members of the Austell Christian Church youth group to work at Sunbelt for 4 days. They painted porch railings for both of our cottages (for some of them its a good thing we didn't charge by the gallon). Part of their group also applied polyurethane to the paneling in our new cottage, currently under construction. While here we were able to share in devotions and fun times together. Many thanks and see you next time!
The 2009 MS Christian Convention was held April 24-25. The youth met at the MS Christian Service Camp in Newton. Phat Rok (yes you read that right) was the speaker this year. Soulfire, Mid-South Christian College's ministry team, led worship.
Our final sessions of the Outdoor Classroom brought together a sequence of challenges for the students to take on. Each of these were elements that had been completed earlier in the year. One of our goals is to bring the lessons learned from earlier experiences into the present situations. The kids have certainly grown as a result of this past year's achievements.
A tribute to our nation's heroes past, present, and future is the theme of The Trail of Honor, held annually in Jackson, MS. This event featurs a living history demonstration of every American war from the French-Indian Wars to the current War on Terror. Our children were privileged to have the opportunity to experience this powerful history lesson.
Tremaine Jordan and Jamar along with Rocsy and her son Anthony helped at Sunbelt by splitting and stacking more firewood than they ever want to see again. We look forward to them coming back soon.
